Lucía Angeleri from Argentina is the DC10 Doctoral Candidate (Molecular Scale) in UPCYCLE MSCA Doctoral Network.
With a background in Chemical Engineering, Lucía is pursuing a PhD at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Technology at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos under the supervision of María Ventura Sánchez Hornero and Juan Antonio Melero Hernández.
Her research focuses on the revalorization of contaminated lignocellulosic waste into sustainable aviation fuel precursors. Through experiments based on catalytic reactions and kinetic modeling, she will explore new ways to valorize waste streams and transform them into high-value products.
As part of the UPCYCLE training programme, Lucía will collaborate with international partners through secondments at Politecnico di Milano, Italy under the supervision of Matteo Pelucchi, where she will work on on the kinetic modeling of the selective delignification of lignocellulosic waste, and at Ingelia, Spain under the supervision of Borja Oliver, gaining insight into biochar production using HTC (hydrothermal carbonization) technology.
Her work contributes to promoting more efficient use of waste-derived resources, supporting the development of cleaner and more sustainable technologies for their transformation into valuable products.
