Noé Kautzmann from France is the DC11 Doctoral Candidate working at molecular scale in UPCYCLE MSCA Doctoral Network.
With a background in Chemical engineering and environmental processes, Noé is pursuing a PhD at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Technology at University Rey Juan Carlos under the supervision of prof. Isabel Pariente and prof. Fernando Castillejo.
His research focuses on catalytic wet air oxidation for the treatment and valorisation of refractory waste waters. Through synthesis of novel eco-friendly carbon-based catalysts and process condition optimisation, he will explore pathways to convert non-biodegradable heavily polluted water into organic rich waste-waters usable for biological process such as biogas production by anaerobic digestion.
As part of the UPCYCLE training programme, Noé will collaborate with international partners through secondments at Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of prof. Benedetta Decaprariis, where he will work on the investigation of new natural materials for catalyst synthesis and use of a broader range of industrial wastewater, and at Ingelia, Spain under the supervision of Borja Olivier, gaining insight into industrial implementation.
His work contributes to advancing waste management while enhancing recovery pathways, supporting the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
